How sweet the sound of Jesus’ name
To those who’ve found their hope in him
The name of love of life of breath
Of power so strong it conquered death
The name my tongue will always sing
The name my heart proclaims its King
The Great I Am the one who saves
How sweet the sound of Jesus’ name
Verse 2
How sweet the sound of Jesus’ name
My cross his cross my pain his pain
His love like nails thrust hard through bone
Was splintered for my heart of stone
My debt was paid my soul set free
My sentence waived on Calvary
The Lamb of God for sinners slain
How sweet the sound of Jesus’ name
Verse 3
How sweet the sound of Jesus’ name
A song to silence all my shame
As love displayed through nail-pierced hands
Forgives the wretch and bids me stand
All doubt all fear left in the grave
My sin-dead soul with him is raised
The Word of life speaks life again
How sweet the sound of Jesus’ name
Verse 4
How sweet the sound a hymn of praise
That echoes down through endless days
And stirs the heart of every one
Whose liberty his mercy won
One day I’ll stand before his throne
And heaven’s song will be my own
The Lord our God Almighty reigns
How sweet the sound of Jesus’ name
Ending
Oh what oh what a name
Jesus we love your name
