The tongue is a funny old thing (2X)
It's like a bit that you put in the mouth of a horse
Or a rudder that keeps the boat on course
The tongue is a funny old thing (2X)
Verse 2
With our tongue we shout bad words
With our tongues we praise the Lord
We curse and swear
And we don't seem to care
That our tongue has become as sharp as a sword
Verse 3
It's a spark that sets the forest ablaze
The tongue is poison in lots of ways
We shout and we huzzle and we moan and we guzzle
Then from the same place come shouts of praise
(Halleluja)
Verse 4
Can an apple tree grow bananas NO
Does an egg plant grow tomatoes NO
We must learn to tame our tongues right now
And ask for God to show us how
Verse 5
Try a tongue twister mister
Get your tongue at the ready steady
Say the things that are good to say and fade away
The bad words naughty words
Fill your head with God's word
That's what we've gotta do Yes That's right
